Introduction to ASCII table and ASCII code
ASCII stands for American Standard Code for Information Interchange. An ASCII code is the numerical representation of a character since computers can only understand numbers. An ASCII code is a 7-bit character code and every ASCII code represents a unique character. ASCII codes represent text in computers, communications equipment, and other devices. ASCII was developed a long time ago and most modern character-encoding schemes are based on ASCII.
The ASCII code is patterned so that most ASCII control codes are together, and all ASCII pritable codes are together. Now the ASCII control or non-printing characters are rarely used for their original purpose. Below is the ASCII character table and descriptions of the first 32 ASCII non-printing characters.
ASCII code to ASCII character converting
Input the ASCII code and hit “Enter”. The tool will convert ASCII code to ASCII character.
Input the ASCII code:
The ASCII character is: p
The ASCII code can be a decimal or hexadecimal integer. For examples, following ASCII codes can be used and generate the corresponding ASCII characters.
0x70
ascii =>p
0x1a
ascii =>Control Code 26
(SUB - Substitute)0x7f
ascii =>Control Code 127
(DEL)0x22
ascii =>"
0x48
ascii =>H
